My cancer journey began right in the middle of COVID, when the world had come to a complete stop. One day, I found a lump and like many people during that strange time, I waited. Appointments were delayed, offices were closed, and when I finally saw my doctor, I was told to “take vitamins and give it 30 days.” Thirty days later, the lump was still there. It took another six weeks to get a mammogram, and weeks after that to finally hear the words I never expected: *“You have breast cancer.”*
I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer and later discovered I carried the BRCA gene. What followed was a blur - chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiation, a full hysterectomy (where they even burst my bladder during surgery), and eight days in the hospital with pneumonia. Because of COVID, I had to face nearly all of it alone. No one by my side for surgeries, no hand to hold during chemo.
During that time, my sweet 9-year-old daughter, Madison, was being homeschooled but everything changed when I got sick. She wanted to take care of me, to cook, clean, and be by my side every minute. Her heart was so pure and determined, but I knew she needed more than that. I made the tough decision to send her to Providence Christian Academy, where she could have structure, support, and friends during such a difficult time.
That choice turned out to be one of the best decisions we ever made. Madison thrived there growing in confidence, faith, and compassion. She shared our story, spread awareness about breast cancer, and found her own purpose: to help kids and families who were going through the same kind of pain we had faced.
Now, five years later, I’m stronger, grateful, and finally feeling like *me* again. But those days taught me something I’ll never forget: if cancer was that hard on me as an adult, I can’t imagine what it’s like for a child or for their families watching them fight.
That’s why Heart4Kids Cancer was born, through the heart of my daughter, Madison, and our family’s desire to give back. This isn’t just about helping kids with cancer;
it’s about lifting up their entire families, wrapping them in the same love and support that carried us through our darkest days.
As Ephesians 6:7-8 reminds us:
Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do.
We’re here to serve families walking through cancer — with bracelets made in love, clean living guidance, and a whole lot of heart. 💛

I went through my bathroom cabinet and was shocked by how many products had ingredients I couldn’t even pronounce. Most conventional lotions, deodorants, and shampoos contain parabens, sulfates, and synthetic dyes. All are linked to hormone disruption. I switched to cleaner brands or simple DIY options with natural oils and essential oils.
Laundry products are one of the biggest sources of hidden toxins. The “fresh” scent is usually just synthetic fragrance and chemicals that cling to our clothes and bedding. I switched to unscented, plant-based detergents and wool dryer balls with a few drops of essential oil.
We tossed candles, plug-ins, air fresheners, and anything labeled with “fragrance.” Those synthetic scents often contain phthalates and other chemicals that disrupt hormones and burden the body’s detox systems. We switched to essential oils and natural beeswax candles instead — and our air feels so much cleaner.
