By Madison Hill, Age 14
When I was 8 years old, my mom got sick with breast cancer. It was scary, and honestly, really confusing. I didn’t understand everything at first, but I could see how hard it was on our whole family. And that made me start thinking… if cancer is this hard for grown-ups, imagine how tough it must be for kids.
Every year, almost 15,000 kids in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer. That’s a lot of brave kids fighting something so scary, so I decied to do something to help.
What We Do
That’s why I started Heart4Kids Cancer. Through our nonprofit, we:
- Make encouraging bracelets for sick kids to spread hope and love
- Build love kits with safe, non toxic goodies
- Host lemonade stands and bracelet parties
- Sell merchandise to raise funds to cover the cost of supplies, kits, and projects
- Show kids and their families that they are not alone
Every bracelet we make, every kit we assemble, and every event we hold is designed to give love, hope, and support during challenging times.
Things We Did in 2025 at The Aflac Center in Atlanta
- Provided Easter portraits to the kids (my parents run James Hill Photography)
- Gifted over 150 handmade bracelets with inspirational quotes
- Made gift baskets for the moms for Mother’s Day
- Participating in The Giving Market at Providence Christian Academy
Goals for 2026
- Prepare our Cancer Kits to send out to families going through cancer
- Host a gift card drive for families (parents and siblings rely on delivered food while the kids are in the hospital)
- Donate food to the community kitchen The Aflac Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders in Atlanta
- Host another portrait session in January at CHOA
- Encourage more people to make healthy swaps and cleaner living
- Host a Christmas in July toy drive with Awaken Church in Atlanta
Our mission is simple: to wrap kids and their families in love, hope, and support — even in the scariest of times. 💛
